It certainly doesn't lack in scares, what it does lack is level, there isn't good enough going on between the 'leaps'. I will admit to leaping out óf my seat ón even more than one event whilst viewing. That stated, as a stand up alone it's not a poor horror film, especially taking into consideration it had been a first attempt at directing by the guy who usually will the screenplay. I discovered the people pretty level and uninteresting and the story less creative than the previous installments. Not really a awful film by any stretch out of the creativity, but sadly no place near the regular of the very first two Insidious movies.
